Governor Ducey Thanks ACI for Efforts Creating the First Memorial State Park

"This generosity of spirit represents the best of Arizona"

Dear Arizona Correctional Industries Staff,

I would like to express my personal thanks for your participation in the dedication of Arizona State Parks and Trails' first memorial state park, Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park. The ceremony was a tremendous success as a result of the collaboration of community members. This generosity of spirit represents the best of Arizona.

I was proud to open this beautiful park as a lasting tribute to the nineteen heroes who sacrificed their lives on June 30, 2013 while protecting our community. I know that you agree that the legacy of those we honor must be shared, nurtured and protected so that it can be passed on through the generations. With each step along the trails of this park, we connect with the Hotshots' commitment to duty; we reflect on their challenges in fulfilling that duty; and we commit ourselves to incorporating the lessons they taught us.

Thank you again for contributing your time and talents to the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park's dedication ceremony. Your efforts certainly honored the memory of our fallen heroes.

With gratitude,

Douglas A. Ducey
