I grew up in Minneapolis, MN. Moved to Columbus, OH when a sophomore in high school. Spent 4 years in the U.S Air Force, stationed 2 years in England and 2 years at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and graduated from Kaplan University with a Master’s in Business Administration. I hold a CPA with the State of Ohio and a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Accountants, Arizona Society of Certified Accountants and AICPA Chartered Global Management Accountants. I spent 13 years with Consolidated Stores Corp. experiencing the birth of Big Lots retail stores as Corporate Accounting Manager. Held Director of Finance, CFO, VP of Financial Reporting and Controller positions with various companies prior to joining Arizona Correctional Industries.
The one inmate that has had a great impact on me when I first came to ACI was inmate Atteberry. Her overall knowledge of ACI was very impressive especially for an inmate. Everything I learned about ACI I learned from inmate Atteberry. The last I heard about Atteberry after he release was she landed a position as Controller for a manufacturer located in Phoenix.
The most satisfying part of my job at ACI is working with the inmates. Playing a part in teaching them a skill (Accounting) that they can use when released from prison. For the most part, the inmates that work in the accounting department are very devoted. They want to learn as much as possible and do whatever it takes to reach departmental goals.
Spent a week at Lake Tahoe doing nothing in particular.
