ACI has helped me in many different ways. First off, it gave me the opportunity to get off the yard and away from all the everyday drama. It has also allowed me to work a job that I really like and prove to myself that I can keep a job for an extended period of time.
In addition, it had provided me with the ability to save some money so that when I am released I won’t have the immediate problem of how am I going to survive until I find a job. Even though I don’t have to worry about finding a job when I get out because where I work now will also hire me when I am released.
As my time here at Arizona Correctional Industries has come to a close, I wish to convey my sincerest gratitude for the opportunity of being a part of this organization. Having spent the better part of a decade incarcerated, I can honestly say that this has been one of the best jobs I have ever had – whether in or out of orange.
The ACI program has helped me in a multitude of ways. It has facilitated facets of survival that are crucial for success (for example: patience, communication, striving for excellence). It has challenged me to make myself better. It has re-introduced me to the person I once was. It has re-energized a tired soul to a youthful spirit. It has achieved this by simply employing me and expecting me to perform at a level society deems above par.
First of all I want to thank Mr. Brown for always being supportive of me when I wanted to be creative or uncreative and being so pushy to get me motivated when I didn’t want to be! He has taught me many things over the years and I truly want to express my gratitude to him for everything. I was blessed to be able to learn so much while at ACI. The opportunities to grow were endless and I will always be grateful for this second chance.
